Freshly in love is also possible at the age of 76.

American singer Cher, who rose to fame as a duet partner to husband Sonny Bono in the '60s and '70s, has confirmed her romance with music producer Alexander Edwards, 40 years her junior.

"Love doesn't count," she commented on Twitter, suggesting Edwards was just basking in her fame.

Cher is said to have met the manager of hip-hop label Def Jam at Paris Fashion Week a few weeks ago.

The couple have been spotted together in Los Angeles for the past few days.

Cher is said to have a soft spot for younger men.

The Grammy Award-winner (“I Got You Babe”)'s conquests include Tom Cruise, Richie Sambora and documentary filmmaker Tim Medvetz, among others.

Edwards has stayed in his age group romantically so far.

He has spent the past four years with model Amber Rose, best known for her relationship with rapper Ye, formerly of Kanye West.

At 36, Edwards is ten years younger than Cher's youngest son, Elijah.

17 years separate him from Chaz Bono, her eldest son.
