The 56-year-old passenger was seriously injured.

Instead of helping her, the 30-year-old who caused the accident twice continued to flee on foot, but was located a short time later by the crew of a police helicopter and arrested by patrol officers.

The man is now being investigated for hit-and-run, negligent bodily harm and deprivation of liberty.

According to the police's previous findings, he drove into the car of a 69-year-old man between Kreuz Holz and the Jackerath motorway junction on Friday evening.

When the first responder got out of his car, the person who caused the accident got behind the wheel, sped away and shortly afterwards lost control of the vehicle.
