The 41st Sharjah International Book Fair hosted the writer and novelist Sultan Al Amimi, Chairman of the Emirates Writers Union and Director of the Poetry Academy, in a cultural symposium on the book of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, “The Houses of Sharjah City.” and the neighboring villages and their inhabitants,” moderated by the writer Aisha Sultan.
Sultan Al Amimi said: "(The Houses of Sharjah City) is the first book of its kind to be published in the UAE. It is a pioneering book in its idea that documents the memory of the place. It was followed by a group of the world's most prominent writers, some of whom won the Nobel Prize for Literature."
Al-Amimi stressed that His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, through his insightful research outlook, sees that every neighborhood or region in Sharjah bears its importance, so he worked on reviving the old map of Sharjah with its neighborhoods and districts, the size of the population, their characteristics and their geographical distribution, the percentage of deaths and births, and the number of family members that It existed, which represents a historical, geographical, social and knowledgeable document about the Emirate of Sharjah in the sixties of the last century.
Al-Amimi pointed out that the book is useful for the researcher in documenting the history of Sharjah figures from the media who enriched the cultural and literary scene, and formed a nucleus of science in the emirate, and it also represents a guide for families to know their extended origins, pointing out that many individuals do not know their ancestors, and this makes the book A source of enrichment for the memory of generations, bringing them back to their origins and roots.
The head of the Emirates Writers Union said: "The book of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah carries an important and reference value for researchers and owners of studies related to the social and economic life in the emirate, which established a pioneering scientific or economic renaissance in the emirate."
