A veterinarian from a clinic in Chenôve (Côte-d'Or) took charge of an almost microscopic animal to which he nevertheless managed to provide care this week.

The patient in question is a one and a half month old tortoise who weighs only six grams.

She is the victim of a major growth retardation, says France Bleu Bourgogne.



The pathology suffered by the reptile is explained by its inability to catch the food given by its masters.

He therefore encounters significant difficulties in feeding himself.

To overcome this problem, the veterinarian and his team performed an operation on the tiny animal.

They managed to implant a probe in it and attempted to plane its beak.

The owners have received nutrition advice and will have to administer antibiotics for two weeks to their mini-tortoise.

The doctor however announced that the vital prognosis of the reptile was engaged and that it was for the moment impossible to ensure that he was going to survive.

He mentioned the risk of “therapeutic failure”.
