A man who had just seen a handbag on the side of the road warned the gendarmes of Grau-du-Roi, in the Gard, who were passing nearby.
They were returning from Nîmes where they had just brought a suspect as part of a referral, at the end of his police custody.
After recovering the handbag, they brought it back to the brigade where they were surprised to discover its contents: a large sum of cash.
The identity of the owner of the bag was also in the bag.
Thanks from the old lady
Contacted, the owner went to the gendarmerie to recover her property and explain the presence of this large sum of money.
This elderly lady had just celebrated her birthday and had received gifts of money from her children and grandchildren.
She was able to recover the bag and its contents.
By mingling in thanks to the gendarmes and the honest person who warned them...
