Recently, Haitian Group has been involved in the controversy over the "double standard" of food additives, which has once again caused people's concerns about additives.

In this regard, some experts pointed out that as long as the amount of additives does not exceed the standard, there will be no harm to the human body.

However, people's attitude towards food additives is not without basis.

Since the beginning of this year, law enforcement officers of the Chongqing market supervision department have detected food additive problems in multiple batches of market sampling inspections.

To eliminate people's concerns about additives, government departments, enterprises, media and other parties need to form a joint force.

Last week, blogger Xin Jifei, who became popular with the series of videos of "Technology and Hard Work" and "Hex Technology", appeared on a live broadcast platform to clarify misunderstandings about food additives.

He said that the original intention of making the video was to let consumers know where the money went, and there was no intention of denying or demonizing food additives.

Despite this, the popularity of the video "Technology and Hard Work" reveals many people's anxiety about food safety and doubts about the modern food industry.

So, why do consumers "talk about the tiger's discoloration" about additives?

How to eliminate consumers' concerns about food additives?

Recently, the "Worker Daily" reporter interviewed relevant experts and industry insiders.

As long as the amount does not exceed the standard, there is no harm to the human body

Recently, Haitian Group, a leading domestic soy sauce company, has been caught up in the controversy over the "double standard" of food additives.

The reason is that Haitian soy sauce purchased abroad has only water, soybeans, wheat, salt and other raw materials in the ingredient list, while Haitian soy sauce purchased in China contains a variety of additives in the ingredient list.

Although the company has made public announcements three times, the incident has not stopped, and the market value of Haitian Flavor's stock once evaporated by tens of billions of yuan.

"Most of the food is in line with the taste of the public, and food additives can further make up for the lack of raw materials and make it meet the expectations of consumers. As long as the amount does not exceed the standard, there will be no harm to the human body." Researcher, Doctor of Nutrition, Chongqing Institute of Sports Science Li Wenjian said that no matter at home or abroad, manufacturers only meet the needs of target groups under the premise of legality, so as to sell things to make money.

Li Wenjian believes that food additives can not only meet the needs of processing technology, extend the shelf life of food, expand the sales range, reduce food spoilage, and prevent food-borne diseases, but also meet the needs of taste or nutrition and form better color and aroma.

The problem of illegal use of additives still exists

According to the news from Haitian Flavor Industry, whether in domestic or foreign markets, Haitian soy sauce has both additive-containing and additive-free products, all of which are produced in strict accordance with food safety standards for consumers to choose.

So what are consumers worried about?

Industry insiders admitted that Haitian's crisis is just a "punch bag and vent" for consumers' anxiety about overall food safety.

Because the extremely low-cost additives can "turn a stone into gold" and pursue the maximization of profits, it is the abuse of a very small number of food additives that intensifies.

Not only is it used in excess doses, but even toxic and harmful additives that originally belonged to the category of chemical raw materials are also added to food.

Such as melamine, Sudan red, etc., the impact is extremely bad.

People's cognitive attitude towards food additives "talking about the tiger's discoloration" is not without basis.

The reporter learned today from the Chongqing Market Supervision Bureau that since the beginning of this year, the law enforcement officers of the Chongqing market supervision department have detected food additives in multiple batches of market sampling inspections.

Including the excessive use of food additives, the use of food additives beyond the range, and even the combined use of preservatives, the sum of the proportions of their respective doses to their maximum use, which does not meet the provisions of national food safety standards.

Not long ago, the Market Supervision Bureau of Changshou District, Chongqing conducted a sampling inspection of the 10-yuan bulk liquor produced by Chunxiang Winery, Wanshun Town, Changshou District.

It was found that its sodium cyclamate (calculated as cyclohexyl sulfamic acid) item did not meet the requirements of the "National Food Safety Standard for the Use of Food Additives" (GB 2760-2014), and the inspection conclusion was unqualified.

Administrative penalties were imposed on the illegal wineries, with a total fine of 12,250 yuan.

Law enforcement officials told reporters that cyclamate is a commonly used sweetener in food production.

Relevant national standards stipulate that cyclamate cannot be used in liquor.

The reason for the detection of cyclamate in liquor may be that the manufacturer added cyclamate in violation of regulations in order to improve the taste of the finished liquor, or it may be cross-contamination during the production of liquor and prepared liquor.

Alleviating concerns requires multi-party efforts

Industry insiders pointed out that food additives have greatly promoted the development of the food industry.

But just like a coin has two sides, when used according to regulations, food additives will not only have an effect on the food itself, but some food additives are also beneficial to the human body. For example, ascorbic acid extract can help the human body better absorb nutrients.

However, when it is used illegally, that is, when food additives are not added in accordance with the specified types and amounts, they often have adverse effects on the human body.

"How to effectively avoid the adverse effects of food additives on the human body? Continuously strengthening testing is the key." said Zhang Zairong, a fourth-level researcher at the Market Supervision Bureau of Yuzhong District, Chongqing. There are many kinds of food additives in my country, reaching more than 2,000 varieties in 35 categories.

In addition to instrumental analysis methods, there are also common detection methods such as colorimetry, titration, and kits, which can all analyze and detect the illegal use of food additives.

Some industry experts pointed out that to eliminate people's concerns about food additives, it is necessary to form a joint force.

For government departments, it is necessary to strengthen the supervision of the use of additives, and severely punish the use of additives in violation of laws and regulations; for enterprises, it is necessary to use additives in compliance with standards and regulations; the media should also do more popular science propaganda to allow more consumers Fully understand the ins and outs of food additives and eliminate misunderstandings.
