Thus, the light will be cut in residential areas from 11 p.m. until 6:30 a.m. the next day.

It will turn off at 9 p.m. in the activity areas and will not be turned on again.

The lights will turn off after 1 a.m. in the hypercentre and will be turned back on at 5:30 a.m. only in winter.

The extinction of the lights will not concern the major structuring axes such as the boulevards where the light will therefore remain on.

Christmas lights preserved

According to the municipality, this measure will allow it to save 54% of its electricity consumption.

At present, this represents a cost of 823,000 euros per year.

However, the city made it clear that it would not ignore the Christmas lights.

Their duration will not be reduced.

The town hall affirms that the latter work with LEDs and that the gain would not have been significant.

It also wishes to preserve the festive atmosphere of this period.
