A call for solidarity launched for the victims of the tornado

• On Sunday, several municipalities in Pas-de-Calais were hit by a tornado.

The scars of the tornado that hit several towns in Pas-de-Calais on Sunday will not be erased with a wave of a magic wand.

While waiting for insurance compensation and to deal with the most urgent, the AMF62 and the Civil Protection of Pas-de-Calais are appealing to the generosity of communities and individuals.

In Pas-de-Calais, four municipalities south of Arras were particularly affected by the tornado on Sunday evening.

The final report shows a total of 180 houses affected, of which 51 are completely destroyed.

For the village of Bihucourt alone, near Bapaume, 90 houses suffered from the tornado and 48 are unusable.

But the after tornado does not only consist in rebuilding, and it is to finance all the extras that the funds are lacking.

Financing the action of the Civil Protection and the needs of the victims

“We have launched a collection with communities and another with individuals.

The donations will be centralized in a kitty which will be used to finance the action of the Civil Protection on the spot and the needs of the victims, ”explains to

the AMF62.

Concretely, upstream of clearing operations, asbestos diagnostics must be carried out.

"The money raised will be used in particular to pay for these diagnoses and then to finance the clearing", specifies the AMF.

For the disaster victims, the donations will be used, among other things, to buy basic necessities, clothing or to equip the temporary accommodation made available.

The idea is not, of course, to evade the obligations of insurers.

Already, the city of Arras and the community of agglomerations of Arras have planned to vote deliberations in order to release exceptional aid in order to abound this solidarity fund.

For communities, donations should be sent directly to the AMF62, individuals should turn to the Civil Protection of Pas-de-Calais.
