The famous school students who took the reverse postgraduate entrance examination went from 985 to "double non" and reconciled with themselves

Recently, Wuhan University of Science and Technology disclosed the "reverse postgraduate entrance examination" data: Among the graduate students in the class of 2022, 159 undergraduates graduated from double-first-class universities, including many undergraduates from Tongji University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Sun Yat-sen University and other famous universities.

This is not an isolated case. This year, "undergraduates from famous universities" have frequently appeared in the graduate student sources of many "double-non" colleges and universities in various places.

Among the 2022 graduate freshmen of Kunming University of Science and Technology, 92 undergraduates came from 985 universities, including Peking University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, University of Science and Technology of China, and Harbin Institute of Technology.

Among the full-time postgraduate students of Shenzhen University, 41% are from "double first-class" universities and the school, and there are also many students from Peking University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Zhejiang University and other famous universities.

In the secular view of "people go to high places", does it mean failure for them to give up the halo of famous schools?

Under the social atmosphere of the nominal school theory, how do they adjust themselves and make choices that are loyal to their hearts?

  Fight for what you love

Zibelin, a graduate student at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, doesn't think his choice is passive.

In order to step into the door of the current profession, she has been tossing and turning for three years.

Zibelin majored in mechanical design, manufacturing and automation at China Agricultural University. Because she is a science student, after the college entrance examination in 2015, she chose engineering as a major. This should have been a normal growth trajectory in life, but it eventually evolved. into a wrong path.

After entering college, she gradually felt that she was out of tune with her surroundings.

She likes to read books on humanities and social sciences and participate in campus media work.

She broke into the world of engineering "like an outlier". Although the environment is not "rolling", she is always unhappy. She just wants to finish four years of college without thinking about the future.

After graduating from her undergraduate degree in 2019, she first joined the Kao Gong army.

After five or six failures, Zibelin made a bold decision, "It's better to take the major of journalism and communication, choose what you like, and fight for it."

In 2020, Qi Beilin took the Communication University of China as the goal of the postgraduate entrance examination. He had been preparing for the exam for more than three months, but he did not even get the admission ticket for the re-examination.

In the second postgraduate entrance examination, she began to lower her expectations. "In the beginning, there was air, and I felt that I graduated from a key university in 985, and I had to choose a better (school). After the first year of beating, I was not so arrogant. Wouldn't put the 985 or 'Double First Class' in the first place."

At the very least, whether it is upward or downward mobility, postgraduate entrance exams allow people to extend new possibilities and different employment options.

Daidai, who graduated from Lanzhou University with a bachelor's degree, "goed ashore" this year as a postgraduate student in clinical pathology at Qingdao University, and is now undergoing parallel training in a tertiary hospital.

Daidai said that in the future, she will be able to engage in work related to pathology, and she will no longer have to do things she dislikes in the clinical direction.

When filling out the application for the college entrance examination, my father felt that studying medicine would be beneficial to employment. He filled all the filling options for Daidai as clinical medicine, so "pain and volume" constituted all of Daidai's memories of undergraduate life.

On the one hand, the fierce competition among her classmates made her breathless; on the other hand, although she was a clinical major, she resisted clinical related operations from the heart, and she could not accept medical operations such as puncture on a conscious person with a needle.

In 2021, after the failure of the postgraduate entrance examination, Daidai returned to work in a Sanyi hospital in his hometown.

While rotating in the hospital, she still couldn't escape the necessary clinical operations.

Her introverted personality and the interpersonal relationships between colleagues also troubled her, all of which pushed her to prepare for the second postgraduate entrance examination.

When choosing a school, Daidai also considered 985 and 211 colleges, but she was unable to devote more time and energy to preparing for the exam while working.

She has lived in the inland area since she was a child, and this time, she wants to go to the seaside.

Among the seaside cities, she chose Qingdao University, which has a relatively good medical specialty.

"It is more important to pass the test than to do well"

The classmates are either Baoyan Qingbei, or studying in famous schools. People go to "high places". In 2020, Shi Xue, who was transferred to a "double non" college to study journalism and communication, also felt a similar sense of loss.

Shi Xue once studied oceanography in a "double first-class" university. Although it is also a major in adjustment, oceanography is grand and mysterious, which makes her find it very interesting.

However, graduates of this discipline are not favored in the job market, and there are only two ways out for the seniors: continue to study, or enter the system.

When she was an undergraduate, her grades were above average, and she was very close to the graduate school. She had done many scientific research projects and published papers. If she was admitted to the school, she had a lot of confidence.

But when Shi Xue saw that many of the seniors and seniors who were studying in the same laboratory needed to delay their graduation, they still decided to take the exam in a direction that was easy for employment.

In the first year of postgraduate entrance examination, she was more than ten points away from Peking University's score line.

After she had no hope of "going ashore", she also tried to find a job to invest in overseas, and passed the initial screening of many companies, "but as long as I saw a major, I basically lost my pass."

In the process of looking for a job, Shi Xue felt that her aura of a prestigious school "seems to be broken".

After experiencing the pressure, Shi Xue actively prepared to adjust.

At the beginning, she looked at the adjustment and recruitment of many 985 schools, and found that the adjustment requirements of these schools were very strict, so she lowered her expectations step by step, and screened down layer by layer, from 985 to 211, all the way down to "double non".

There are excellent classmates around who went to famous schools such as UC Berkeley and Imperial College, and she accepted the admission of a "double non" college in a coastal city.

She thought that the people around her would be more or less concerned about going to a place that was worse than the original school and how she was doing. In order to avoid this kind of snooping, Shi Xue closed the circle of friends as soon as the school started. Accept attention from others.

In fact, the "severe situation" is a practical problem that the postgraduate entrance examination army must face in recent years.

According to the public data of the Ministry of Education, since 2016, the number of applicants for postgraduate admissions examinations in my country has been on the rise.

In addition, according to the "White Paper on Graduate Entrance Examination of Gaotu University Students" released by Gaotu, although my country has continuously increased the enrollment of postgraduate students, with the continuous growth of the number of applicants, the overall enrollment ratio is still low.

In 2022, 4.57 million people nationwide will take postgraduate entrance examinations, while the planned enrollment of colleges and universities is about 1.1 million.

Under the heavy pressure, being able to "go ashore" seems to be enough to make the postgraduate students rejoice.

"It's more important to pass the test than to pass the test." Like other reverse postgraduates, Chen Yu is still chasing a definite result.

This year is the third year of her postgraduate entrance examination. After failing to apply for the Chinese Academy of Sciences twice, she graduated from Hohai University with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. This year, she decided to apply for a psychology major in a "double-non" university.

In the past three years, she has watched the score line of psychology gradually rise. "The national line was 330 in the first year, and it rose to 350 last year, and it may increase in the future."

Leaving the halo of the famous school and starting to pursue individual meaning

Although the halo of a famous school can make students and the school "proud", it can sometimes make people lost in the collective honor.

Breaking away from the "aura of a famous school" is the first step for many postgraduate students to understand themselves and explore their inner confidence.

After coming to the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, Zibelin felt very satisfied.

Favorite city, favorite major, and like-minded classmates all made her feel that she was finally on the right track.

"I'm no longer after the title of a good university, I want to really learn what I want to learn."

Zibelin said that the most attractive point of Shanghai Institute of Technology is the school-running concept of "combining work and culture". Although she majors in journalism and communication, she will still deal with data and programming in the course study.

She studied programming as an undergraduate, which gave her an edge.

"It is impossible to have no gap." Daidai said that the moment he learned of the smooth "going ashore", what he felt was not joy, but worry and anxiety, especially after seeing his undergraduate classmates "going ashore" in 1985 in World War II , she somewhat regretted why she had not been braver at that time.

But soon, such loss was diluted by Qingdao's sea breeze and fulfilling life.

When she was just enrolled in school, Shi Xue secretly joined Douban's "985 Waste Introduction Project" group and labelled herself a "loser".

After entering school, the process of reconciliation with herself was not as difficult and long as she imagined.

Shi Xue found that the classmates around her had similar experiences to her own. "Many people have been transferred here, and they are all excellent, not just you."

After graduate school, Shi Xue's biggest feeling is that she no longer pays attention to the sense of honor brought by the school's halo, but instead thinks about the realization of personal value and the pursuit of personal meaning.

"School is no longer a name on my body. I will think more about what I can do, rather than what the halo of a famous school can bring me."

For Zhang Ying, the transition from Beijing Normal University to Beijing Normal University did not bring her a strong gap, but instead brought her one step closer to her ideal teaching career.

After joining the first teacher, she majored in Chinese education, which is the counterpart of the teacher. During the period, the postgraduate tutor also contacted them for an internship in the "Haidian Liuxiaoqiang" Middle School.

In her postgraduate life, Zhang Ying learned to balance study and life, and she also fell in love.

She is no longer the same as when she was an undergraduate, who is always swept up in anxiety and schedules every day to the fullest.

Now, she wants to spend every day in a relaxed way.
