According to the Kawasaki City Fire Department, after 11:00 am on the 25th, there was a report that "smoke is coming out of the Kawasaki City Hall under construction" in Kawasaki Ward, Kawasaki City.

At first, black smoke was rising from near the roof of the building, but it gradually subsided.

Firefighting activities are still ongoing, and according to the fire department, there is no information on escape delays or injuries, but we are continuing to confirm.

According to the police, smoke rose from around the 24th floor.

According to the Kawasaki City website, the Kawasaki City Hall is being rebuilt on the current site near the east exit of Kawasaki Station due to aging and lack of earthquake resistance.

The main government building is scheduled to be completed next year as a skyscraper with 2 basement floors and 25 floors above ground.

Currently, in addition to the construction of the observation floor and helicopter waiting space on the rooftop, the outer wall construction from the 22nd floor to the 24th floor is being carried out.
