The English term "Health data hub", which designates a megafile of health data created by the government, can no longer appear in official communication by April 20, 2023. The decision of the Paris administrative court fell on October 20 last.
The judges summon the Ministry of Health to "proceed to withdraw the expression" as well as its acronym (HDH) from all "communication media intended for the French public", in the decision consulted this Sunday by the

The court had been seized by Francophonie Avenir, the association for the defense of the Francophonie.
Already translated into French
The organization wanted to prohibit the state from using English expressions such as "Choose France", "French Tech" or "French Impact".
The Toubon law for the defense of the French language, promulgated in 1994, prohibits any public actor from using “a foreign expression or term” in a brand or appellation that it creates if an equivalent word exists in French.
The regulations are ambiguous on how the existence of an “equivalent word” in French can be proven.
According to the case law of the Council of State, one must strictly adhere to an official list published by the Commission for the Enrichment of the French Language, which proposes equivalent words for new technical words.
In the case of "Health data hub", the Administrative Court of Paris notes that each of the three terms has already been the subject of a translation approved by the Commission (santé for "health", given for "data" and concentrator for “hub”).
The megafile already has a French name;
namely “health data platform (PDS)”.
