Three years ago, in the case of the suicide of a first-year junior high school boy in Kumamoto City, a third-party committee established by Kumamoto City said, ``Inappropriate guidance by the homeroom teacher in elementary school can cause the onset or exacerbation of depressive symptoms in students. There is a high possibility that it had a strong impact,” he compiled a report.

Three years ago in April, a boy in the first year of junior high school committed suicide in Kumamoto City. Investigations have been conducted by a third-party committee made up of attorneys and others.

And on the 24th, the report was handed to the student's bereaved family and Mayor Kazufumi Onishi.

In the report, while it was difficult to identify the direct cause of suicide, the male teacher who was in charge of the sixth grade of elementary school received inappropriate guidance such as reprimands and abusive language, and friends were reprimanded. It is highly likely that witnessing the depressive behavior of the students strongly influenced the onset or exacerbation of depressive symptoms in the students.

In addition, if the school had told the parents that the student wrote the word "death" in a notebook just before graduating from elementary school, it would have led to a medical examination, and he said, "There was a good possibility that the suicide could have been prevented." It is possible,” he points out.

Mayor Onishi, who received the report, said, ``The elementary school and the city board of education were not able to catch the change in the child's mind and were unable to respond appropriately.'' In order to protect the lives of children, we must create an environment that makes it easy to catch children's SOS."
