China News Service, Guangzhou, October 23 (Reporter Cai Minjie) The overall myopia rate among children and adolescents in my country is still at a high level.

Ge Jian, an expert in the field of difficult glaucoma and a professor at Sun Yat-Sen University's Zhongshan Ophthalmology Center, said in an interview recently that prolonged use of electronic products, excessive use of the eyes at close range, and lack of outdoor activities are all bad habits that consume excessive hyperopia reserves. There is 40 minutes of outdoor activity.

According to data from the National Health Commission, in 2020, the overall myopia rate among children and adolescents in my country will be 52.7%, an increase of 2.5 percentage points from 2019. Among them, 6-year-old children are 14.3%, primary school students are 35.6%, junior high school students are 71.1%, and high school students are 71.1%. is 80.5%.

In 2020, the myopia rate of 6-year-old children in various places will exceed 9%, with a maximum of 19.1%.

When a baby is first born, the eyeball is relatively small, so the eye axis is also short. At this time, both eyes are physiological hyperopia, also called "hyperopia reserve", which can be understood as a "buffer" against the development of vision to myopia.

With the growth of age, the eyes will develop towards "right vision", and the "hyperopia reserve" will gradually decrease.

A certain degree of hyperopia reserve is reasonable.

Genetics, lack of outdoor activities, poor eye habits and other factors may cause the eye axis to grow too fast.

If a child's farsighted reserve is lower than the value for the corresponding age group, it means that the farsighted reserve has been consumed too much, and myopia may appear earlier.

The problem of myopia in younger age is still prominent.

Ge Jian reminded that special attention should be paid to the 14.3% myopia rate of 6-year-old children, "Not only should children in this age group not be short-sighted, but they should also have a certain amount of hyperopia, resulting in a younger age of myopia. I think it is greatly affected by the environment. For example, children's eyes are overloaded at close range, and they have insufficient time for outdoor activities."

"Parents are the first responsible person to help children prevent myopia." Ge Jian reminded that some young parents use TV, mobile phones, and tablets as comfort tools to their children in order to keep their children from being noisy, which will lead to premature myopia.

"At present, there are many intervention methods for myopia, among which there is a solid scientific research basis to ensure that children have 40 minutes of outdoor activities every day." Ge Jian said that the research team of Zhongshan Ophthalmology Center has carried out related myopia prevention among nearly 2,000 students in Guangzhou. In a research project, children in the outdoor activity intervention group increased their outdoor activity by 40 minutes a day from grade one to grade three, and encouraged parents to allow their children to be outdoors after school, especially on weekends.

Through the three-year intervention, the results showed that the rate of myopia among students in the outdoor activity group dropped from 39.5% to 30.4%.

Ge Jian also reminded that in addition to allowing children to have a certain amount of outdoor activities during the day, the light source used by children for homework at night, too dim light is not conducive to the protection of eyesight.

In addition, it is best to choose a full-spectrum lamp, which will be closer to natural light and help protect eyesight.

"Early intervention and treatment can significantly improve the prognosis." Lu Yan, technical director of the Children's Eye Diseases and Optometry Division of Purui Ophthalmology, said that many myopic children and adolescents are currently wearing orthokeratology lenses and defocusing frames. To delay the progression of myopia, it is also necessary for these children to have an examination every three months. If it is found that the myopia progresses too quickly, the doctor will pay more attention to the child's eye load, eye distance, pen posture and other factors that accelerate myopia. Reminder Children and parents take note.

"It is necessary to establish continuous good eye habits to ensure long-term myopia prevention and control effect." She said.
