On Thursday, October 27, the Russian family adventure film Terrible Dad starring Evgeny Grishkovets and Kirill Kyaro is released.

Anastasia Todorescu, Elena Safonova, Igor Vernik, Irina Voronova, Mikhail Orlov, Eric Panich, Ulyana Pilipenko and other actors also starred in the tape.

The plot of the tape revolves around members of the Osipov family, who help Ivan the Terrible, who finds himself in the modern world, return back.

The appearance of the king does not pass without a trace for the heroes and changes not only their worldview, but also themselves.

Friendly atmosphere and absolute trust on the site

The film was directed by Karen Oganesyan and Yuri Korobeinikov.

If the first is familiar to viewers from such films as "Milk", "The Game of Survival", "Passengers", then the second tries himself as a director for the first time.

Previously, the main focus of Korobeinikov in cinematography was camera work.

He participated in the production of such films as Method, Couple from the Future, Yolki 1914.

Oganesyan admitted in an interview with RT that his colleague is "a very smart and thinking cameraman with directorial potential."

The director appreciated Korobeinikov's talent during the filming of the TV series The Game of Survival, where he also acted as a cameraman.

“I offered him to help me and fully be (the second. -

RT

) a director, because big pictures are not easy to pull.

He loves technically cool filming and is already well versed in dramaturgy, ”said Hovhannisyan.

The cinematographer is sure that Korobeinikov will soon become an interesting independent director.

Nevertheless, on the site of "The Terrible Pope" was not without creative disputes and disagreements.

As a result, however, despite the first experience of such cooperation, the directors managed to share duties among themselves and supplement each other's work: if Korobeinikov was responsible for the technical component and visual design of the tape, then Oganesyan was responsible for the artistic part.

The performers of the central roles Evgeny Grishkovets and Kirill Kyaro, as well as the general producer and actress Irina Voronova, noted that the atmosphere on the set was the most friendly and warm, which is an unconditional merit of the directors.

At the same time, both were very demanding and responsible in their tasks.

“Oganesyan, as an experienced and seasoned director, has a first-class atmosphere on the set.

The entire crew gets along very well.

I starred in many films and I know what it is, what difficulties there are on the set in terms of interaction with each other, and Oganesyan followed this ... Yura is an extremely meticulous and tedious director, he could bring to great fatigue, but always for the sake of excellent result,” said Evgeniy Grishkovets.

According to the actor, if one director was involved in adding strokes to the portrait, then the second was fixing the image.

Cyril Kyaro, who first tried himself in a comedic role, said that participation in the tape was a test for him.

But since he had already worked with Oganesyan, they met on the set of "Passengers" and "Live", he completely trusted him.

“I rarely act in comedies, and for me it was a kind of challenge to work in the comedy genre with Karen Oganesyan, who is a master of this direction.

I completely trusted him and worked with pleasure, ”the artist explained.

Lack of family educational cinema

According to Karen Oganesyan, in recent years it has been difficult to find domestic films suitable for family viewing that could unite the older and younger generations.

That's where the idea for "Terrible Dad" was born.

According to the cinematographer, he always wanted to make a film aimed at a children's audience, which would be reviewed in the same way as he once in his childhood eagerly waited for the start of his favorite films on TV.

The director noted that he was very grateful to the Cinema Fund for supporting children's projects.

In a conversation with RT, he said that he was aware of the degree of responsibility of his generation for educating a young viewer with cinema.

“I remember how, as a child, I watched and waited again and again for such films as “Guest from the Future”, “Adventures of Electronics”, “Old Man Hottabych,” the director noted.

“I wanted to make the same kind of movie, a kind and instructive film that parents would advise their children, and the children would want to review it.”

However, the director set himself a difficult task: according to his idea, the film should not only appeal to children, but also arouse in them a keen interest in the past, key historical objects and prominent figures.

“I wanted the story to be not empty, but informative and interesting, encouraging viewers to learn even more by googling about the grimoire, about the legendary library of Grozny and about himself,” Oganesyan explained.

The image of Ivan the Terrible has been repeatedly displayed in the cinema - in the biographical dramas of Sergei Eisenstein "Ivan the Terrible" and "Ivan the Terrible.

Tale Two: The Boyar Conspiracy, Leonid Gaidai's comedy film Ivan Vasilyevich Changes His Profession, Pavel Lungin's dramatic story The Tsar, and other films.

The new story has nothing to do with past paintings about the king.

“I understand that in our time the name of Ivan the Terrible in cinema is primarily associated with the film “Ivan Vasilyevich Changes His Profession”, but these films are completely unrelated,” the director emphasized.

The Creation of a King and a Scholar

The authors of the tape offer an unconventional, partly comedic look at the king.

They did not set themselves the goal of documenting the character of a real ruler - rather, a kind character is presented on the screen, reminiscent of old Hottabych in terms of wisdom, and Carlson in capriciousness.

“We got our own Ivan Vasilyevich - a collective image of the king himself, the old man Hottabych and Karlson - such a not formidable, kind and loving father,” Oganesyan noted.

Yevgeny Grishkovets, who embodied the image of the king on the screen, also emphasized that his hero is not a character in historical documents or annals.

“My hero, most likely, looks like Carlson - the character is rather harmful, wayward, selfish, but at the same time very energetic.

It is fun and interesting with him, because some kind of adventures constantly happen to him.

The main task of the hero is to try to correct the historical horror and not kill his son, ”said the actor.

The idea to entrust the role of Grozny to Yevgeny Grishkovets came to Oganesyan while still working on the film "Milk", where the actor played an exhibitionist.

“We worked on the Milk project, where he (Grishkovets. -

RT

) has a short but super-memorable role.

Then I felt and thought that our Grozny should be just like that - smart, with charisma, somewhere strict, somewhere kind.

It was interesting to see him in this image, and I think he did an excellent job, ”said the cinematographer.

The actor himself admitted that he agreed to star in the film without reading the script, and explained this by the fact that he was ready to accept any proposals from Oganesyan.

“Who will refuse an invitation to a masquerade?

Playing Ivan the Terrible is an adventure in itself,” Grishkovets explained.

In the name of art, the actors on the set were ready to sacrifice comfort and endure any inconvenience.

So, Grishkovets had to walk for 12 hours a day in a 15-kilogram suit, a glued beard, which took one and a half to two hours to attach, and a wig, so he shaved off his hair.

The actor was very afraid that the gray wig, which had to be worn for a year, was sewn from human hair.

It turned out they belonged to a musk ox and a goat.

This fact reassured the actor, because, according to him, wearing the hair of another person is strange, and the hair of an animal is normal.

But he was very happy with the cap, in which Grishkovets starred, because Nikolai Cherkasov once wore this pearl headdress in the same image.

“The hat, in which I played for almost a year, from the painting “Ivan the Terrible” by Sergei Eisenstein ... It was found and purchased in Kazakhstan.

And one of the caftans is from the shoulder of Mamonov from the movie “Tsar,” the actor said.

The performer of the role of archaeologist Kirill Kyaro specially grew his hair and mustache to emphasize the character of his hero.

Osipov is a swindler and a rogue, because of which his wife (Irina Voronova) divorced him, and took care of the children (Erik Panich and Ulyana Pilipenko).

“Nikita is a failed researcher.

All his life he has been looking for the library of Ivan the Terrible, he even wrote a book about it.

In parallel, since scientific research does not generate income, he has to earn extra money - selling antiques or passing off fakes as expensive rarities.

He's such a half-swindler, half-scientist - a pretty popular image from the 1990s, when people who were doing science went into business.

Despite not being entirely honest, however, this business is harmless for him, because, judging by his philosophy, he deceives people who themselves deceive others and are connected with the criminal world, first of all, he is still a scientist.

And when there is some kind of lead, he drops everything to find the work of his life, ”explained Kyaro.

adult movie stunts for kids

The plot of the plot is borrowed from an episode in the life of Ivan the Terrible, depicted on Ivan Repin's canvas "Ivan the Terrible and his son Ivan on November 16, 1581."

The picture caused a stormy reaction from society and a fierce controversy around the reliability of the fact of the murder of the Tsarevich by Ivan the Terrible.

At the court of Alexander III, the painting was completely considered disgusting and distorting history.

According to one version of scientists, Ivan the Terrible wounded his son, but did not kill him.

This opinion is shared by the authors of The Terrible Pope.

“Based on the well-known painting by Repin, we wanted to show that the tsar really loved his son, and what happened was just an accident,” Hovhannisyan said.

Everything else in the picture is fiction and historical reflection of the authors.

After the king accidentally wounds his son, he regrets it.

With the help of his grimoire, Grozny wants to go back to prevent a fatal mistake, but due to a combination of circumstances, he ends up in the future - in our time.

Here he meets the Osipovs, who set out to bring the king back, long before that ill-fated moment.

But first, the king will dress in a modern tracksuit, learn how to use a smartphone and get acquainted with other benefits of civilization.

It is worth remembering that the film is primarily for children, so the filmmakers tried to competently avoid sharp corners (for example, there will be no blood in the tape), while the attitude to production was the most serious.

“Children's films should be made in an adult way.

And we treated the film with the appropriate attitude, paying great attention to the preparatory period.

To make everything look as beautiful and interesting as possible for the modern viewer, the film also has action scenes, chases and incredible stunts, ”said the director.

Viewers will see full-scale attractions from stunts performed by professional stuntmen on the screen.

However, the actors also had a chance to work on difficult episodes - according to Irina Voronova, in one of the difficult scenes they performed stunts on their own.

“In one of the final scenes, a minibus with the Osipov family flies into the circus and goes up to the very dome.

The scene was filmed with real actors, without professional doubles, ”she said.

This moment became the most memorable for Kyaro as well.

According to the actor, the episode was filmed at the Yaroslavl Circus.

Some of the stunts were performed by the actors themselves, but especially life-threatening elements were trusted only by professional stuntmen.

Before the Volkswagen was raised to the dome below, close-ups were filmed, the actors acted out fear, and when everyone was taken upstairs for the general plan, there was no need to portray fear - everything turned out naturally.

“I caught myself thinking that there, standing at this height, you behave in a completely different way: you don’t breathe or move so intensely, you are more collected, because it’s really scary, despite the fact that we all had insurance … I have never had such a show and action in my life.

Never,” recalls the artist.

Authentic locations

To create the right atmosphere, the authors of the tape chose several locations.

With their help, according to Voronova, they wanted not only to convey the authenticity of historical places, but also to show the beauty of old Russian architecture.

The tape was filmed in Rostov, Yaroslavl region, in Yaroslavl itself, as well as in Moscow and the Crimea.

By the way, getting permission to shoot at some sites was not easy.

“Everyone knows that there is a temple on Red Square, but few people were inside.

We wanted to show a wide audience how beautiful it is - the property of our nation ... Due to the fact that this is an object of state importance, we fought for it for a long time, - the producer noted.

“However, everything was resolved with the help of some acquaintances.”

Yevgeny Grishkovets shared a funny incident that happened in the summer during filming in St. Basil's Cathedral: an actor dressed as a tsar went to the square and fell out of favor with the local "leaders" - Stalin and Lenin, who were unhappy that Grozny had broken the queue.

“For two days St. Basil's Cathedral was at our disposal, I went along and across it in the form of a king.

It was stuffy, I went out fully in the vestments of the king to Red Square to get some air.

Stalin and Lenin ran up to me first of all with a complaint: “What are you doing?

We agreed that you won’t come on Wednesday!”

he said.

Speaking about the film, the artist noted that the audience is waiting for "a very bright, wonderful and rare picture for today."

First of all, because it is necessary to show children good stories and let them be little longer.

“The longer a child remains a child, the longer it charges its life batteries in order to last as long as possible in a state of a happy, trusting and interesting living person.

Childhood should be maintained and cultivated for as long as possible,” he concluded.

The authors of the tape also note that the main idea of the picture lies on the surface and lies in the value of the family.

“It is important for children to know that when you are running after a dream, you should not lose the most important thing - supportive people, like a hero who was looking for treasures in the library of Grozny, almost losing his family.

Even Grozny realized his mistake and wanted to return and change it, ”concluded Oganesyan.
