Since the evacuation, on October 5, 2022, of camps occupied by migrants in the square de la Touche and the Saint-Cyr park in Rennes, 177 people – including 105 minors – have been waiting for accommodation.

This event did not fail to move some local residents: human chains of parents of pupils and their children formed in front of schools to ask for an accommodation solution for homeless families.

“We have known for several weeks that children from the school are in camps, explains Anne-Cécile, parent of a pupil from the Ille school.

These camps evacuated, we very quickly found ourselves with almost a dozen street children.

We therefore wanted to react quickly, and we have been organizing meetings for days, to try to get the public authorities to move.

"It's not normal to come to this"

Currently rehoused in tents, in emergency accommodation, in the street or in several schools in the city of Rennes, the families are distraught: "We live in a room in which the school management and the parents of students allowed us to stay, says a Georgian dad.

We are very grateful even if I know very well that it is serious to come to this, that it is not normal.
