In the early afternoon of the 23rd, there was a fire in a house that also serves as a restaurant in a shopping district in Higashiyamato City, Tokyo, and one person died in this fire.


The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the cause of the fire as well as confirming the identity of the woman in her 70s who lives in this house.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, at around 3:30 pm on the 23rd, there was a report that there was a fire in a two-story house that also serves as a restaurant store in the shopping district of Shinbori, Higashiyamato City.



About 40 firefighters, including pump trucks, extinguished the fire, and the fire was extinguished after about four hours, but one woman was found in the burnt remains and was later confirmed dead.



Four people, including elderly parents and children, live in this house as a family, but they have lost contact with their mother in her 70s after the fire.



Also, a son in his 50s who was on the second floor when the fire broke out said, ``Smoke came up from the first floor where the store is located,'' and the store was under preparation at the time.



The scene is a shopping district about 1.3 kilometers west of Ogawa Station on the Seibu Kokubunji Line, and the Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the cause of the fire while confirming the identity of the body.
