The episcopal palace of Rodez (Aveyron) should reopen its doors by 2026, announced on Wednesday Arnaud Viala, LR president of the department.

Once restored, the building will be the cultural reflection of the department, wished the elected official.

A steering committee is currently working on this Aveyron showcase project.

Several associations have already made known their ideas for the development of the site.

The general public should have access to the 4,000 m2 palace, its 7,000 m2 gardens and its main courtyard, which are only accessible today during Heritage Days.

Arnaud Viala has also announced his intention to host part of the Department's services on site.

On the other hand, he did not give more details on the employees concerned by a future move, on the wing occupied by the administration or on the presence or absence of the office of the president of the Department.

Details should be provided in the coming months.
