The Ile-de-France regional unions of the CGT, FO, FSU and Solidaires unions are calling for "the opening of an investigation" to determine why the police at the Paris demonstration on Tuesday were "targeted" by the police forces, according to a letter obtained by AFP on Friday.

If there were "few incidents on the course", with a "change in behavior on the part of the police compared to the previous Prefect (no use of tear gas, presence of the maintenance of the more discreet order…)”, “we cannot accept several police charges on the union procession”, write the unions to the prefect of police of Paris Laurent Nunez, successor of Didier Lallement.

Blows "have been struck"

“While most of these charges stopped at the level of the Union Order Services without going into frontal contact, in front of the Overseas Ministry it was indeed the SW of the front square that was targeted by of police forces,” they lament.

Blows “were delivered (including to the head)”.

Another incident involved a team of police officers on motorcycles (Brav-M) who "cross[ed] the procession at the level of the CGT regional truck".

In total, there were "seven injured in the ranks of the CGT including a comrade for an open wound in the head requiring the laying of five staples".

The Paris police chief noted on Tuesday that there had been "very few overflows" in the demonstration, reporting 11 arrests.
