• In Fouquereuil, in Pas-de-Calais, a register of condolences to pay tribute to Lola was made available by the town hall, on the initiative of the girl's parents.

  • The inhabitants of the town or surrounding towns follow one another to express their support for Lola's family.

  • The funeral will take place on Monday in Lillers, the hometown of the teenager's mother.

In Fouquereuil, in Pas-de-Calais,

"We don't even know what to write, it's so horrible," says a resident of Fouquereuil, who came this Friday evening to pay a last tribute to Lola.

A week after the murder of the 12-year-old girl, the spirits did not take off in this small town in Pas-de-Calais where the parents of the victim took refuge, fleeing Paris.

A dull anger, with respect for the girl's family for whom "the support of an entire population is a precious help in overcoming this painful ordeal".

It is with the agreement of the family of Lola that the town hall of Fouquereuil set up, this Friday, condolence books to collect tributes to the young victim and thus send their support to his parents.

In front of the entrance to the communal foyer, opposite the municipal shooting range, two tables had been set up on either side of a painted portrait of Lola.

"You were the sun of our lives, you will be the star of our nights", a sentence signed Jordan and Thibault, Lola's brothers, which can be read under the portrait.

Alone, in pairs or in small groups, anonymous people follow one another to lay a bouquet of flowers and leave a note in one of the four books made available.

“Sincere condolences, courage to the family, may Lola rest in peace,” wrote Mickaela, a resident of Fouquereuil.

She did not know either the girl or her family, but this horrific news item upset her: "What do you mean in such circumstances, it's just horrible," she slips.

“I hope it will change things”

Also living in Fouquereuil, Bernard hides his emotion behind a dull anger: "It should never have happened, if things had been done according to the rules, Lola would still be there," he says.

In the rules, for him, this means that the suspect in the murder should have been expelled: "I hope at least that Lola did not die for nothing, he lets go, and that it will change things".

“Change the laws instead,” adds Mickaela.

Delphine came with her 11-year-old daughter, Héloïse.

"As a mother, I had to do something for the little one's family, even if you can't imagine their pain," admits the mother of the family.

“This event shook me up, peace to your soul”, wrote on one of Héloïse's books.

She can't help but identify with Lola, "because we're almost the same age and it could have happened to me," laments the little girl.

“We all feel concerned”

Night begins to fall on Fouquereuil and onlookers are rarer.

Many journalists remain, parked behind barriers.

"It's curious that there was no white march", is surprised Nathalie, 50 years old.

But she respects this wish of the family: "We all feel concerned, except that we don't know how we would react to such a tragedy," she insists.

“What is voyeuristic, what is not?

asks the 50-year-old.

Standing in front of Lola's portrait, her two brothers soberly thank the people who have come to pay homage to their sister.

They will not speak to the press and, besides, no one solicits them.

After sunset, there were about a hundred of them leaving a note in the registers.

For the funeral, Monday, in Lillers, the authorities expect more crowds.

“The church can hold 400 people, and several thousand in the square.

There will be a sound system but no screen, ”explains a state representative to

20 Minutes

.

On the arrival of the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, "nothing is confirmed", he adds.

Let us also recall this wish of Lola's parents who do not want “official scarves, nor any particular sign of belonging to a political organization.
