A portion of the Tangentielle, the ring road bypassing Orléans (Loiret), was not lit for a few hours during the night from Monday to Tuesday.

This was a test conducted by the Department between 9:30 p.m. and 2:30 a.m. in order to observe the actual visibility conditions when the lights are off at the side of the road.

This test of energy sobriety was indeed organized on the RD 2060 and the RD 520 around the metropolis of Orléans.

While this sector was plunged into darkness, agents from the departmental road service had to travel on the Tangential and study the conditions of travel and safety in the absence of public lighting.

Studying the feasibility of stopping these lights aims to save energy and ensure that the increase in bills does not exceed 10%.

As part of these efforts, the Department of Loiret wishes to reduce the volume of energy consumed by 5%.
