The activities of the sixth session of the Arab Publishers Conference will start on November 2, at the Expo Center Sharjah, organized by the Emirates Publishers Association and the Arab Publishers Association.

The conference celebrates the League of Arab States, the guest of honor of its new session, and its activities are organized in conjunction with the activities of the 41st session of the Sharjah International Book Fair, under the slogan “The Arab Content Industry and Post-Pandemic Challenges”.

The conference, which is held in a strategic partnership with the Sharjah Book Authority, brings together 35 publishers and speakers in eight sessions over two days, including representatives from Arab book fairs, heads of Arab publishers' associations and associations, and experts and specialists in the publishing, content and creative industries.

The conference - which is organized in the presence of Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of the International Publishers Association, and representatives from the League of Arab States - sheds light on the experiences of Arab publishers in dealing with the challenges imposed by the Corona pandemic, especially on the book industry, education and supply chains, and Arab book marketing opportunities. after the crisis.

It also discusses the impact of digitization on copyright, book fairs in the era of digitization, the future of Arab libraries and freedom of expression, as well as the skills gap and the importance of the Arabic language and the influence of the writer and publisher on it.

For his part, the head of the Arab Publishers Association, Muhammad Rashad, affirmed that “Sharjah is an essential station for every Arab publisher, given its contribution through its various efforts in support of books in serving the Arab and international publishing industry, by approaching the sessions it hosts for the Arab Publishers Conference on fundamental and relevant issues and themes. Practical and innovative solutions to the challenges facing publishers, anticipating the future of this industry, promoting entrepreneurship, and providing an opportunity for the exchange of ideas and experiences between publishers, in addition to intensifying coordination with officials of Arab book fairs and those in charge of publishers’ unions and associations. All this movement crystallizes solutions and initiatives every year from Sharjah. It enhances the presence of the Arab publisher and the sustainability of the book industry in the region.”

While the President of the Emirates Publishers Association, Ali bin Hatem, said: “Over two days, the participants in the discussions and dialogue sessions of the conference will address several issues, reflecting in their diversity and comprehensiveness the various challenges facing the Arab publisher, and reflecting the importance of the Arab Publishers Conference platform as a common dialogue and communication space that brings together senior publishers and officials Arab exhibitions.

He added: "Through the conference, the Emirates Publishers Association sheds light on the Emirati publishing sector, and its vision based on adopting innovation in book publishing, supporting the principle of the right of all individuals to access sources of culture and knowledge, and consolidating the habit of reading, to join efforts in spreading knowledge among publishers and various parties.
