Christie's has offered a selection of modern and antique watches that appeal to watch lovers, through the "Dubai Edition" auction that will be held online, and is characterized by a selection of valuable and rare watches, as well as a group of distinctive women's watches.

All watches are offered at Christie's in the Dubai International Financial Center, until October 26, for online bidding only.

The auction includes more than 300 watches, and their estimated total price ranges between 14 and 23 million dollars.

Christie's Dubai has succeeded in establishing itself as a global center for watch auctions, after it was able to establish reference standards for specialized online auctions, and achieve huge sales amounting to millions of dollars.

Leading the auction is the exclusive Richard Mille RM 50-03 GR McLaren Tourbillon Split-Second Chronograph, with an estimated price of between $900,000 and $1,200,000, and is a masterpiece produced in a limited edition of 75 pieces.

Many of the region's favorite watches, as well as the largest selection of Rolex Daytona watches encrusted with precious stones and mother-of-pearl, are also displayed in the Dubai auction collection.

Christie's team of specialists has prepared a range of important watches from independent watch makers, such as "FB Journe", "De Python", and others, in order to meet the market demand.

As for the women's watch section, it includes 60 watches divided into two groups, the first group includes contemporary watches from collectors from the Middle East, and the second is headed by bracelet watches from the seventies, most of which are produced by Piaget.

Remy Julia, director of the Watches Department at Christie's, told Emirates Today: "We are offering, through the auction, a group of distinguished watches, including the old piece dating back to 1958, which is designed in a limited edition, in addition to a platinum-designed piece, which is one of the pieces. A rare stone that carries a stone is very difficult to find an equal.”

He pointed out that watches should not be viewed as an investment, but rather a pleasure in the first place, and to choose between classic, antique or even contemporary watches, it is preferable to follow personal taste, and not rely on the market or prices, explaining that it is necessary to move away from the concept of investment in the first place. , in case one does not have enough information to do so.

Julia stressed that it should be noted that the watches have not been subjected to a lot of polishing or cleaning, as this is detrimental to their quality, as their basic condition must be good, while making sure that their box and papers are in good condition as well, as this helps maintain their value and price.

Watches specialist Nitin Neer said: “We first look for the quality, then collect it, and then look at the price of the watches and the market in which we will put them. The prices of the watches we offer in the auction must be proportional to the estimated prices paid by each market, with Looking at the importance of finding trending watches in each region.”

He advised new collectors to collect information well, because culture is the starting point.
