After the scandal surrounding a suspected Nazi salute by Ballermann singer Melanie Müller, the police searched the 34-year-old's home in Leipzig.

A spokeswoman for the Leipzig public prosecutor's office said on Thursday that it was about the investigation into the suspicion of using license plates from unconstitutional organizations.

Such characteristics can be flags, badges, pieces of uniform, slogans and forms of greeting.

The “Bild” newspaper first reported on the search.

In a video, which is also available to the public prosecutor's office, it should be possible to see how the singer raised her right arm a few times during a performance in Leipzig in mid-September.

During the search, evidence is to be secured and then evaluated, the spokeswoman said.

Müller had rejected the allegations and any proximity to "right-wing extremists or nationalist ideas".

Investigations against unknown persons

The 34-year-old described the gesture as a harmless request to the audience: "I've been on stage for eleven years and always do these hand movements.

Not from a right-wing extremist background, but "Zicke zacke zicke zacke", that's exactly how I do it there." The state security department of the Leipzig criminal police is now investigating whether it was the so-called Hitler salute or a harmless, inviting gesture to the audience .

In this context, investigations are also being carried out against persons unknown, because during the performance some spectators are said to have made statements with clearly right-wing extremist and National Socialist ideas.

Müller had distanced herself from this and explained that she then canceled the performance and left the event.

Concerts in Mallorca

She then announced a break on Instagram and also canceled an appearance in Dresden.

Two days later, the 34-year-old appeared twice in Mallorca, as the "Mallorca Zeitung" reported.

The former jungle queen and "Celebrity Big Brother" winner did without her characteristic, rousing arm movements and "Zicke Zacke" calls.

The 34-year-old's partner had told the "Bild" newspaper that Müller was not at home during the police measures.

At the request of the dpa, Melanie Müller initially did not comment.
