Seven people were arrested overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday in Lyon, as part of an investigation opened following a series of shootings, sometimes deadly, in the sensitive district of La Duchère, we learned from consistent sources.

During the operation, the police were targeted by the shots of a suspect, but the latter was finally able to be arrested without bloodshed, indicated these sources familiar with the matter, specifying that certain criminals were preparing to back to action.

These arrests are part of a rogatory commission opened by the prosecution as part of an investigation into a series of violent episodes that have occurred since the spring in this district located in the northeast of Lyon.

Two deaths in June

On the night of June 14 to 15, two young men aged 20 and 16 were killed in a shootout, a month and a half after other shots that injured three young people during a wild barbecue.

Sources close to the investigation had at the time mentioned settling of accounts against the backdrop of drug trafficking.

In this same neighborhood in April, police officers from the anti-crime brigade (BAC) were targeted by projectiles, and in March five minors were injured by gunfire at a deal point.
