The image that today illustrates the cover of this newspaper is sufficiently expressive of the tension with which the King and Queen of Spain experienced the three minutes of delay that the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, made them experience without leaving the car.

Sánchez breached the protocol and delayed his arrival with the unequivocal objective of making it coincide with that of the Monarchs

and thus dilute the usual boos of the public attending the parade on October 12.

This behavior is revealing of the patrimonial concept that the head of the Executive has of the institutions.

The PP should not forget it during the negotiation that it has started to renew the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) after the resignation of its president, Carlos Lesmes.

At stake is the independence of judges and, therefore, the guarantee of legal certainty and the prevalence of the rule of law.

Above all because, if the CGPJ is unblocked, the subsequent consequence will be the consequent alteration of the majority of the Constitutional Court at the moment in which Sánchez has exhibited an agreement with the ERC to "dejudicialize" the

procés

and ignore the sentences that order the application of 25% of Spanish in the classrooms of Catalonia.

The reception at the palace on the occasion of the National Holiday was used by

Sánchez to publicly snub the leader of the PP

, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, for demanding a commitment to reform the law and that the judicial members be chosen by the judges themselves, instead of by political parties as is the case now.

This is also claimed by the EU.

Without any kind of nuance, Pedro Sánchez addressed the cameras yesterday, knowing that he had all the lights, to send a message: "The PP knows that this is not going to change";

that is to say, that there is not and there will never be such a commitment on your part.

For the Executive, complying with Brussels is simply a "pretext" that the PP is using to not proceed with the renewal of the governing body of the judges.

This ignoring perfectly situates the conditions of trust in which the conversations take place.

Sánchez insists on presenting the PP as the only one required by the situation of constitutional crisis that causes the beheading of the Judiciary, when the reality is that Lesmes himself alluded when he anticipated his resignation to the "mess" caused by the Government by leading to the collapse of judicial bodies by stripping the CGPJ of its power to make appointments, something that by itself places the negotiations under the pressure of blackmail.

And when European Commissioner Didier Reynders set a date to reform the CGPJ's election system, he pointed out, not by chance, the moment in which Sánchez would have to accede to the Presidency of the EU, in June 2023.

Therefore, the PSOE is the most concerned.

Given the words of the president, Feijóo already knows what his will is.

Very demanding will have to be the guarantees that the PP makes Sánchez sign so that someone believes that he is willing to comply with them.
