The Vaucluse firefighters have been equipped, since January 2022, with weather sensors created by the start-up HD Rain.

These systems are used to anticipate the risks of natural disasters and, thus, to deploy resources accordingly.

Tuesday, October 11, around forty civil security actors and community customers were trained in their use in Avignon;

The sensors, which operate using photovoltaic panels, collect data which is then visible to firefighters on software.

Rescuers can access it from a smartphone, tablet or computer.

“They provide rain, temperature, humidity and pressure data allowing an ultra-local meteorological view of events”;

explained the co-founder of the start-up.

The devices were placed on the facades of 48 fire and rescue centers in the department.

However, the device is not able to warn of all weather events.

Its designers now want to improve it so that it also provides information about the wind.
