Dubai opens the "Reading Box" again... with a trip with creators

The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) will launch the “Reading Fund 2022” program in Mirdif City Center, during the period from 19 to 28 January, as visitors to the center await all hours of the day, a program full of free morning and evening activities, which vary between reading sessions Panel discussions, poetry evenings, interactive creative workshops and performances.

The “Reading Box” will accompany readers of all age groups on a cultural, literary and creative journey in the world of stories, with a selection of Emirati and resident creators, including Badriya Al Shamsi, Al Dhabi Al Muhairi, the youngest Emirati entrepreneur and publisher and founder of the Rainbow Jamni library and publishing house, as well as Sabah. Debby, Maryam El-Gammal, Nadia El-Najjar, and Maha Shehab.

Visitors will also explore, through various workshops, the basic skills of writing their first book with writer and lawyer Aisha Al Dhaheri, and various handicrafts for grandmothers, such as embroidery, basket making and others, with Maryam Al Zaabi from the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center, as well as origami making with Sheikha Muhammad and Badria Obaid from the library Hatta, and learn about the basic principles of portraiture in the "Graphic Engineering" workshop with writer and painter Faisal Al Qasimi.

As for adults, they are on a date with a rich set of dialogue sessions, within various axes ranging from the culture of child rearing, literary criticism and its importance in analyzing reading, dialogues and readings in poetry, a workshop on personal qualities the key to success, full awareness of life, Emirati tradition, and the art of the Gulf voice in Emirates: Beginnings and Ends, Literary Agencies and the Future of Arab Publishing, Engineering Space Diplomacy and Communications, Voice of the World Expo;

With the participation of speakers, researchers and creators from the Emirates, such as: heritage researcher Salem Hilal, researcher and artist Ali Al-Abdan, Rola Al-Banna, media figure Safia Al-Shehhi, engineer Nasser bin Hammad, poet Ahmed Al-Asam, and poet Maryam Al-Zarouni.

In a dialogue session, writer Ali Abu Al-Rish will tell the audience part of the life and personality of "Zayed Al-Khair" in a session entitled "Zayed the Universal Conscience".

The “Reading Box” program will enrich the experience of visitors to City Center Mirdif on its closing night with a bouquet of the most beautiful verses of poetry, by the Emirati poet Hassan Al-Najjar, owner of “Haneen Al-Maraya’” and “Bath of the Soul” collections, and the Emirati poet Amal Al-Sahlawi, who recently released her poetry book.
