A majority of the members of the municipal council of Villeneuve-Saint-Georges (Val-de-Marne) voted in deliberation against the project to develop the former Signify logistics center (ex-Philips).

Critics point to the nuisances for local residents generated by the planned data center and logistics site.

The property developer Goodman has indeed explained that he wants to build an information storage center of 16,000 m2 on site “and an industrial hotel of 150,000 m2”, detailed the mayor in September.

He also highlighted the 600 to 800 jobs that the new site would create.

The manufacturer has already spent 209 million euros to acquire the premises.

The anti-development municipal elected officials do not budge, however, the project will not be beneficial to the inhabitants.

They deplore in particular the hundred heavy goods vehicles that it will attract each day, the resulting traffic difficulties on the N6 and the height of nearly 35 m of the main building.
