On October 9, local time, a saury festival was held in a park in Tokyo, Japan. Nearly 20 saury masters were grilling saury at the same time.

All the saury that day were shipped from Kesennuma City in the Tohoku region, a famous saury producing area in Japan.

In previous years' saury festival, the organizers would prepare about 5,000 saury, but due to the decline in the catch of saury this year, the number had to be reduced to 1,000.

In order to avoid too many queues and increase the risk of the spread of the epidemic, the organizer conducted a lottery in advance.

According to statistics, a total of more than 8,700 people have applied, in order to be able to taste the deliciousness of saury in the golden autumn season.

In recent years, due to changes in the marine environment, the migratory volume of Japan's offshore waters has declined, resulting in a continuous decline in the catch of saury.

Since the beginning of the autumn saury fishing season this year, there has been a shortage of fish. A fishing port in Hokkaido went to sea for the first time this year, and the catch was only 1/10 of last year.

In the past three years, Japan's saury catches have hit record lows in a row.

According to the Japan Fisheries Agency, this year, the resources of saury in the North Pacific region are only about 1/3 of the peak period, so the catch is expected to remain low.
