The Meta Film Festival, which kicks off on the 27th of this month in Dubai, revealed that it will screen 70 films from 25 countries, ranging from feature films, animations, documentaries and short films.

The festival, launched by the Meta Film Platform, will continue at Fox Cinemas - Nakheel Mall in Palm Jumeirah, until the 29th of this month.

“The META Film Festival is a platform for showcasing outstanding local, regional and international films, as well as a catalyst for the film industry in Dubai,” said Laila Masinai, Director and Managing Partner of Great Minds Event Management.

Festival organizers announced that the three-day event will feature a range of events, premieres and red carpet events with stars and talents from the Arab world, Hollywood, Bollywood, Nollywood, celebrity meeting, film fund launch, awards ceremony, after-parties, content markets, and other programs.

The META Film Festival was launched for the first time last May, welcoming entries from filmmakers from the UAE, the Middle East and the world.

It seeks to play a role in the renewal of the film industry in the region.

The festival chose a jury of seven specialists to nominate the works that deserve the prizes to be distributed on the 29th of this month.

The jury is chaired by Emirati director and poet Nujoom Al-Ghanim, and includes Spanish producer Andre Venter Gomez, Iranian producer Kafi Farmam, artist and director Peja Anjarani, and Turkish artist Neslihan Yeldan.

Among the most prominent awards of the Meta Film Festival are: Best Arab Short Film, Best International Short Film, Best Documentary Feature Film, Best Documentary Short Film, Best Arab Feature Film, and Best International Feature Film.
