For the first time in an Arab city, the exhibition “Frida and I” in its Arabic version was launched in Sharjah, which provides children with an interactive space through which they travel to the world of creations by the famous Mexican artist Frida Kahlo.

The exhibition was launched in the presence and patronage of Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of the International Publishers Association, who toured the exhibition, which is held in partnership with the Department of Government Relations in Sharjah, and got acquainted with its various sections, and watched the children go through the journey of learning about the artistic and life experience of Frida Kahlo, and the challenges that passed And how to overcome them to achieve success, and their ability to transform human suffering into artistic creations.

The exhibition, which will continue until the eighth of next January, presents an innovative method of viewing artworks, as it allows dealing with interactive devices that embody the most important stages of the Mexican artist's life, through six basic themes, and 13 devices, each of which constitutes an essential part in the life of Frida Kahlo. And through which to test the conditions in which she lived.

Sheikh Fahim Al Qasimi, Head of the Department of Government Relations in the Emirate of Sharjah, said: “In the department, we seek to build bridges of communication with different cultures, to achieve knowledge and cultural exchange, and our partnership with (House of Wisdom) to host this unique exhibition for the first time in an Arab city embodies a step in this trend.”

He added: "Sharjah hosts this exhibition, which represents the legacy of a Mexican artist with a unique personality, and Mexico used to participate in the Sharjah Book Fair, and was the guest of honor for the 38th session of the fair, and in return, the emirate will be the guest of honor for the Mexico International Book Fair 2023, which indicates The depth of the bonds that unite the two sides.

On the organization of the exhibition, the Executive Director of the House of Wisdom, Marwa Al-Aqroubi, said: “Celebrating inspiring creative experiences from different cultures of the world is one of the main goals that (House of Wisdom) aspires to achieve. Humanity is among humans, and this is an opportunity for our young visitors to explore their abilities, passion, and creativity, and try to hone their artistic skills, by getting acquainted closely with the creative model presented by an international artist such as Frida Kahlo, and her ability to transform suffering into high-level art, and beauty that touches hearts who looks at it.”

She added: "We are proud to present in the UAE the first Arab version of the exhibition (Frida and I), as it is a rich creative event that carries high cognitive and aesthetic values. To analyze their ideas about art, relationships, hobbies and passions.”

The opening ceremony of the exhibition was also attended by the President of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Musallam, the Permanent Representative of the State to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Dr. Nawal Khalifa Al Hosani, the Acting Executive Director of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer, and a number of officials in the Department of Government Relations in the Emirate of Sharjah and the House of Wisdom.
