  The heavy metal antidote dimercaptosuccinic acid is the first new drug invented in China that is imitated by the United States. Ding Guangsheng is one of its main researchers.

On June 16, 1950, Ding Guangsheng received his Ph.D. from the Department of Pharmacology of the University of Chicago.

  Ding Guangsheng was born in Beijing on July 23, 1921. He received his Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University of Chicago in 1950. In 1951, he overcame obstacles and resolutely returned to China to join the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica. The founder of academic research has cultivated a group of outstanding talents.

  "On July 17, 1951, when I walked out of Luohu Railway Station with two heavy boxes and saw the five-star red flag for the first time, I couldn't help but burst into tears." Ding Guangsheng recalled the past scene like this before his death.

  Ding Guangsheng's father, Ding Xuxian, is one of the pioneers of semi-analytical chemistry research in China and the general history of chemistry in the world. He has taught at Peking University and Zhejiang University and other universities.

Ding Guangsheng's mother, Ms. Chen Shu, was one of the earliest female students in China. After returning to China, she taught at the Beijing Women's Higher Normal School and was a pioneer in women's education in China.

Under the influence of his family, Ding Guangsheng was determined to save the country through science since he was a child.

He also said that his father is a person who cherishes time very much, "At that time, we couldn't see him when we woke up in the morning, because he left at 4:30 in the morning, and he went to the gate of the Academy of Sciences with the cafeteria staff every day. Because (he) didn't have a key; we told him to go after dawn, but he insisted, saying morning was his most productive time and no one bothered him."

  Ding Guangsheng is also very frugal.

"At that time, he was riding an old broken car and carrying a bag that was repaired and repaired." Ding Minle said.
