North escapes to South Korea .. Then he returns "his longing for his mother"

When North Koreans manage to leave their isolated country, they never think of returning, not only because they aspire to a new life, but because they are immediately liable to the death penalty if they are caught.

But a young North Korean man in the prime of life came back, of his own volition, in order to get his mother out, and took her so that she could live close to him.

According to the Washington Post, the young Kim Kang Woo, now 27, began his adventure in 2016, when he was tired of living in a small village near the borders of North Korea and China, especially since he grew up orphaned and poor with his widowed mother.

In May 2016, the young man left his home, after saying goodbye to his 51-year-old mother in "silent grief", and was able to cross a river on the border, and then began a long journey of five months through China, Laos and Thailand, in order to reach South Korea, which seems to “People of the North” is like a paradise that floats in luxury.

When Kim succeeded in defecting and arriving in South Korea, like tens of thousands of his compatriots who preceded him, he was not good enough for him, and he remembers that his mother was left alone in poverty and loneliness.

The young man who came to Seoul worked diligently and saved money, until in 2019, he was able to book a ticket and went to China, in order to find a smuggler to get his mother out.

Kim sought, by phone, to arrange his mother's exit in agreement with some smugglers, but the attempt of the "righteous young man" did not bear fruit, and because Kim was clinging to his mother, he tightened his resolve, slipped through the border and entered North Korea, then went to his mother, who was stunned as he knocked. She has the door.

Kim says that he was aware of the dangers facing him, because he might be imprisoned or executed if he was caught, and he was already about to fall into the hands of the authorities had it not been for he rushed into hiding, and then left quickly through smugglers, because the intelligence learned about him.

At this moment, the young man despaired, carried out his flogging and then returned to South Korea, while his mother, who was tortured, was investigated, but the police did not arrest her, and she remained at her home.

When he returned to South Korea, the young man found himself in legal trouble, because South Koreans are prohibited from going to North Korea, unless they obtain permission from the authorities, which Kim did not do.

Taking into account his humanitarian conditions and his lack of precedents, the young Kim was convicted of six months in prison and placed under probation for two full years, as part of measures taken by South Korea to prevent the infiltration of spies from the North.

But Kim, who left North Korea in a hurry, was not, according to "Sky News Arabia", raised the flag of surrender, nor did he finally abandon the idea of extricating his mother, but rather recommended a smuggler to continue his efforts, and that is what actually happened, as the woman managed to get out, and then cut The long journey and crossed mountains and countries.

Unfortunately for the young man, he was in the cell when his mother arrived in South Korea, but today, he is immersed in life, working in simple jobs, while looking forward to improving his level and enrolling in university to study international relations, while his mother lives in a quiet and beautiful apartment in Seoul, benefiting from aid provided by South Korea to the defectors.
