Five years after the first allegations of abuse against Kevin Spacey, another trial against the Oscar winner has begun in New York.

In their opening statement, actor Anthony Rapp's lawyers accused the Hollywood star of sexually assaulting their then 14-year-old client in 1986.

During a party at Spacey's Manhattan apartment, he allegedly laid Rapp on the bed to "fulfill his own sexual desires" on the teen.

Rapp allegedly managed to free himself from the drunk Spacey.

Spacey wants to testify

The actor was among the first to level allegations against filmmakers like Harvey Weinstein, Louis CK and Andy Dick when the MeToo movement began in 2017.

As Rapp said at the time, he continued to suffer from the psychological consequences of the attack.

In their opening statement, attorneys for the Oscar-winner ("American Beauty"), however, attributed the 50-year-old actor's allegations to his allegedly mediocre career in the entertainment industry.

Rapp, who can be seen in the series "Star Trek: Discovery" and the musical "Rent", said he was jealous of Spacey's success as an "international star".

Rapp is now suing for damages and pain and suffering in an undisclosed amount.

Spacey, who has repeatedly denied the allegations in the past, announced on Thursday that he would testify during the trial.
