  2022 will be the tenth year that Liu Xiuxiang returned to his hometown, Wangmo County, Qianxinan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province to teach and educate people. As the vice-principal of Wangmo County Experimental High School, he is better known as the 14-year-old. The former protagonist of "Going to University with a Mother for Thousands of Miles".

  The "post-80s" Liu Xiuxiang was born in Nonglin Village, Wangmo County. His father died of illness when he was young, and his mother suffered from mental illness due to excessive sadness.

When he was in the third grade of primary school, his elder brother and sister went out to make a living, and his mother's condition worsened. The burden of family life was all on Liu Xiuxiang.

  The hardships of fate did not defeat him, but made him even harder. At the beginning of Xiaosheng, he was admitted to the county middle school with the third place in the county.

From his hometown to the county seat, Liu Xiuxiang and his mother embarked on a long road to study.

Entering high school, while studying hard, he used his spare time to pick up scraps to make a living. He was tired and looking forward to it.

  In 2007, he failed the college entrance examination due to illness. In 2008, he fought hard again and was admitted to Shandong University. In September of that year, he took his mother to study again. He moved countless people by "carrying his mother to college for thousands of miles".

It is the dream of many children in the mountains to go out of the mountains and enter the big cities, and Liu Xiuxiang also thinks so.

In 2012, Liu Xiuxiang was about to graduate from college. At first, he did not plan to go back to Guizhou to work, but planned to find a good job in another province and send money back to help those in need.

  However, because one of Liu Xiuxiang's sisters who was sponsored by Liu Xiuxiang just graduated from the third year of junior high school, she chose not to study. No matter how Liu Xiuxiang persuaded her, it was useless.

Therefore, Liu Xiuxiang resolutely chose to return to Wangmo County. He was going to tell those children who were once poor or confused like him, "You must have a dream in life. Even if you encounter difficulties and setbacks and are about to give up, turn around and let me go. stand behind you."

  "I can give them motivation, why? Liu Xiuxiang admitted that he walked out of the mountains through reading. , seeing the beauty of the outside world, I want to come back and tell the children in the mountains that the outside world is beautiful.

  In 2012, Liu Xiuxiang, who returned to Wangmo County, became a rural teacher. In August of the same year, he launched the "Students Going to the Villages Action", which was initially mainly to persuade students.

In the beginning, it was himself and a few teachers who rode a motorcycle around villages and villages, and persuaded students to learn.

Because many parents did not support, Liu Xiuxiang suffered a lot of closed doors.

  "I once met a little girl. Because of her parents' backward thinking, after graduating from the third grade of junior high school, her family arranged to go out to work to subsidize her family." So Liu Xiuxiang rode a motorcycle to persuade him. No matter what he said, the parents of the students would not let their children return. Liu Xiuxiang went to the school 12 times in half a year. The last time he angered the parents of the students. The parents let the dog on the leash. Liu Xiuxiang was chased by the vicious dog all over the village and was planted under the ridge, and the back of his head was smashed. , there are still scars left.

  However, the more this is the case, the stronger Liu Xiuxiang's confidence in persuading students to study.

In the past 10 years, Liu Xiuxiang has broken down 8 motorcycles. He has been puzzled and abused, but he never thought of giving up. He successfully brought more than 1,800 students back to school.

During the persuasion, Liu Xiuxiang found out that the children who were persuaded to go back to school disappeared soon after, the main reason was the difficulties of living at home.

  To this end, Liu Xiuxiang started student aid activities. At first, he paid for it himself, and later he borrowed money from friends and colleagues.

Due to the large amount of donations to the school, Liu Xiuxiang took the child's information to find the "little boss" in the county town. He has been to hardware stores, restaurants, supermarkets and other places. In his words, "For the sake of the children, I can even have dignity. don't want."

  During the study period, Liu Xiuxiang also always took care of the students' self-esteem.

In 2013, a female student in Liu Xiuxiang's class approached him five times in a week, and each time the topic was the same, that is, if she didn't study, she had to go out to work. Later, Liu Xiuxiang visited the student's home and learned that her mother and uncle were mentally retarded. Grandpa is old and sick, she and her younger brother go to school, and only rely on her father to support the family.

  At that time, Liu Xiuxiang had no financial resources, so he paid for the tuition and living expenses of the female student by himself. "But the child has a strong self-esteem. She saw that there were many students I funded. Connect with the support of good-hearted people outside.”

  It was not until the female student was admitted to the university that by chance, she saw all the letters she had written to sponsors at Liu Xiuxiang's house, and she didn't know that Liu Xiuxiang had been sponsoring her.

Today, the female student has graduated from college and is back to work in Wangmo.

  Beginning in 2016, Liu Xiuxiang established a famous teacher studio focusing on public lectures, teacher training, student moral education, and student funding, attracting teachers from inside and outside the school to join. , caring people, and even taught students joined in.

  In the past 10 years, Liu Xiuxiang has initiated student aid activities covering primary, middle school and university students. Currently, more than 4,200 children have been sponsored.

In 10 years of education, Liu Xiuxiang witnessed and participated in the development of his hometown. In 2012, more than 1,000 students in Wangmo County participated in the college entrance examination, and only 70 were admitted to the undergraduate degree. In 2022, 10 years later, the number of people who participated in the college entrance examination in Wangmo County will be 2,420. , the number of undergraduates has reached 1302, and the quality of education has improved from the lowest in the whole prefecture in southwestern Guizhou to the top three in the prefecture.

  "Ten years of education made me realize that the more remote the place is, the more high-quality education is needed. Every child should have a better future, no matter where he was born." Liu Xiuxiang said that the future will continue as always. Give full play to the leading and radiating role of the famous teacher (model worker) studio, never give up, help children build up their self-confidence, and let more children go out of the mountains to change their destiny through reading.

  As a representative attending the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and one of the millions of educators rooted in mountainous areas, Liu Xiuxiang admitted that he mainly focuses on rural education and rural teachers, and hopes to make full use of the resources of special post teachers.
