While waiting for enzymes from butterflies to destroy them, the dreaded microplastics continue to contaminate our seas and oceans.
And it is to warn about this terrible ecological threat that three “eco-adventurers” have been traveling the Mediterranean coasts in kayaks and swimming for the past month.
Leaving Italy to reach Spain, Philomène le Lay, Anaëlle Marot and Solène Chevreuil draw up an alarming report of marine pollution.
“The anchovies found in our pizzas are contaminated with plastic”
“On the beaches, it is common to see microplastics mixed with pebbles and shells.
Present in marine environments, they will then end up everywhere else through the evaporation of water,” laments Philomène le Lay.
“It is urgent to change our production methods, approves Anaëlle Marot.
For example, 56% of Mediterranean anchovies are contaminated with plastic, the same ones found in our pizzas.
And we don't like that, because nobody likes plastic pizzas”.
