His video caused a lively controversy and revived the debate around safety during hunting parties.

Pierre Rigaux is the man who broadcast last Sunday on social networks his exchange with a hunter without an orange vest ready to shoot across a road, in the Drôme.

These images have been viewed almost a million times since they were posted online.

The naturalist, fiercely opposed to hunting, reacted in an interview with

Dauphiné Libéré

.

"I never imagined that this video would shock so many people," he admits.

(…) Unfortunately, I also received thousands of messages from hunters insulting me and calling me a liar.

But no, unfortunately, this video is not a montage.

“A permanent fear” of reprisals

Pierre Rigaux claims to live in "a permanent fear" of reprisals even if "most hunters are courteous".

He also denies having "thrown into the woods" this hunter.

“His face is blurred and I do not give his name in the video, nor his city of origin (…).

My intention was above all to denounce breaches of safety rules in the organization of this hunt.

»

He also acknowledges that “not all hunters behave this way”.

Faced with the outcry caused by this video, the president of the hunting association which organized the hunt announced that he had suspended the hunter in question.
