In 2021, private radar cars circulating on French territory checked a total of 6,650,000 vehicles.

They also flashed more than 500,000 times, according to the latest Road Safety statistics relayed this Friday by

.

The activity of these control cars operated by private companies has increased.

In 2021, they recorded 38% of the offenses recorded by all radar cars (private and law enforcement), compared to only 9% in 2020. A not surprising increase since last year, 20 new departments welcomed these control vehicles.

Average speed down 3%

Another lesson from Road Safety figures: the number of private radar cars circulating on the roads has almost doubled, from 83 at the end of 2020 to 150 at the end of 2021. The overwhelming majority of checks carried out (96%) are on roads whose the maximum authorized speed is 80 or 90 km/h.

There are therefore only 166,000 checks on sections limited to 70 km / h and 77,000 checks on expressways limited to 110 or 130 km / h.

There are also disparities between departments.

In some, the violation rate is barely 3% when it exceeds 12% elsewhere.

On average, the controlled speed in France has however decreased by 3% compared to 2020.
