A young man was honored by the Federal Police in Hamburg for his courageous commitment.
On the night of September 12, the eighteen-year-old rescued a drunk man who had fallen onto the track bed in the Reeperbahn S-Bahn station.
"I didn't think long when the man fell on the track.
I just acted instinctively," Shiwam Chanra told Hamburger Abendblatt.
Without hesitation, he jumped onto the track bed and pulled the man back onto the platform with other helpers.
A short time later the S-Bahn arrived.
When Police Chief Jan Müller of the Hamburg Federal Police found out about the incident the next day, he had the eighteen-year-old call to meet him and thank him.
The meeting took place on September 30 at the federal police station at the main train station, a spokesman confirmed on Tuesday.
"Shiwam Chanra has the impulse to help, the impulse to intuitively do the right thing," said Müller.
