Yayoi Kusama's work "Pumpkin" was installed on a pier in Naoshima that protruded into the sea, but last August it was washed away by the strong winds and high waves of a typhoon, and was damaged by hitting the coast and jetties. .

On the 4th, after the restoration work was completed, local children were invited to show it off, and the mayor of Naoshima, Shinichi Kobayashi, said, "It's no exaggeration to say that today is Naoshima's anniversary, and I've been waiting impatiently for this day. The restored "Pumpkin" is 2 meters high and 2.5 meters wide, and is made of fiber-reinforced plastic, which is thicker than the previous work so that it will not be damaged by strong winds.
