In response to an incident in which a 3-year-old girl died of heatstroke after being left in a kindergarten bus at a certified children's center in Shizuoka Prefecture, the city of Sagamihara installed an intercom on the commuter bus on the 4th, and the children in the car asked for help. I verified whether it can be used when requesting.

This initiative was carried out by Sagamihara City at a kindergarten in the city, and children and staff participated.

Behind the driver's seat of the school bus, an intercom that connects to the staff room was installed, and the staff explained to the children, "If you are alone, press the button."

When the children pressed the intercom, a ringing tone sounded in the staff room and the children's faces were projected on the monitor, and the staff talked with the children.

Last month, the city installed a security buzzer on the school bus and is verifying whether it can be used when a child left behind asks for help.

The city is calling for stronger measures, such as installing security buzzers and intercoms according to the situation of each kindergarten.

Yoshio Toyama, head of the Sagamihara City Nursery Division, said, "Although it is essential that an adult confirms when children get on and off, we would like to install intercoms and other equipment to protect children's lives just in case." was talking
