Usually thrown away at the end of the summer, the 2,500 m3 of water from the Jean-Bron municipal swimming pool in Grenoble (Isère) will be recovered.

They will be used to water green spaces and clean the streets of the town, reports

.

The recent drought and water restrictions have prompted the authorities to carry out "responsible management of fluids", said Pascal Reydellet, head of the city's equipment department.

Since August 29 and its closure, the swimming pool has therefore interrupted the supply of chlorine to its pool so that it evaporates and the water can be reused.

An experiment

An experiment was then carried out.

“The fact that there is no more chlorine has caused stickiness in the water and microalgae to appear, so we are doing tests to see if that doesn't damage the sweepers.

And, compared to the viscosity, it should not make the road slippery, ”explained Gilles Namur, the assistant for biodiversity, nature and freshness.

Only the Jean-Bron swimming pool is affected by this measure.

If the latter proves conclusive, it should extend to the other basins of the commune.
