He says his office has also signed an agreement with the president of the junta, Colonel Mamady Doumbouya, which offers guarantees that the trial will be fair and transparent.

He "congratulates" the colonel for having launched this procedure, rejecting criticism of the risk of being used for political reasons by a putschist regime and under international sanctions.

"I don't deal with regime change," he says, stressing that his mandate is to fight impunity, regardless of the country and its political regime. 

In Ukraine, he explains that his office has had a continuous presence on the ground since May.

There are serious allegations of crimes that we are investigating.

He was pleased with the good cooperation of the Ukrainian authorities but regretted that Russia for its part refused to collaborate.

He rejects Russia's accusations of ICC bias, saying the court will follow the evidence where it leads.
