On September 29, 2022, local time, a composite image released by the European Space Agency shows that the spacecraft carrying out NASA's "Double Asteroid Redirection Test" (DART) mission collided with an asteroid "on September 26" Images taken 22 minutes, 5 hours and 8.2 hours after Didymos.

The set of images shows the expanding plume ejected from the asteroid body.

Images taken by the Hubble Space Telescope showed ejecta from the impact extending from the asteroid's body in the form of rays, and astronomers estimate that the brightness of the asteroid "Dimophos" increased by a factor of three after the impact.
