Last month, the active job openings-to-applicants ratio rose for the eighth consecutive month to 1.32 on a national average due to an increase in job openings in the accommodation industry during the summer vacation without restrictions on movement.

According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, the effective ratio of job offers to job seekers, which indicates the number of job openings for each person seeking work, was 1.32 on average nationwide in August.

It was 0.03 points higher than the previous month and rose for eight consecutive months.

In addition, the number of new job openings posted by companies to Hello Work increased by 15.1% compared to August last year.

Comparing new job openings by industry from August last year, accommodation and food services increased by 51.1%, life-related services and entertainment increased by 28.9%, and wholesale and retail increased by 18.7%.

Looking at the active job openings-to-applicants ratio by prefecture, the highest was Fukui Prefecture at 2.04 times, followed by Shimane Prefecture at 1.88 times and Gifu Prefecture at 1.77 times.

The lowest was 1.04 times in Okinawa Prefecture, 1.07 times in Kanagawa Prefecture, 1.09 times in Osaka Prefecture, and all prefectures exceeded 1 times.

The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare said, ``In August, it was the first summer vacation without restrictions on movement in three years, and the number of tourists increased, and the number of job offers in the accommodation industry increased.'' On the other hand, companies are expected to refrain from hiring due to increased costs due to soaring raw material prices, so we need to pay attention to future trends."
