Mohammed Al-Awadi, a young Emirati man who loves adventures and searches for exotic and unknown tourist places. He invested his skills and passion in several sports, such as mountain climbing, camping, and cycling, in exploring the nature of mountainous areas within the country, to learn about mountain ranges, caves and unknown tourist places in the Emirates, and introduce The most prominent of these areas were the city of Hatta, the Shoka area in Ras Al Khaimah, and the city of Khorfakkan.

In detail, Al-Awadi told «Emirates Today»: "At the beginning, I did not expect that there would be encouragement for me in this type of sports, and in my love for climbing and discovering mountainous areas, where it was rare to find someone who shares my same tendencies, but when I told my friend (Omar) ) About the experience of these sports, he was very excited to try them with me, and every weekend we went to the city of Hatta, because there are a lot of mountains, and we used to camp there, and practice climbing, and riding bicycles.”

Al-Awadi continued: “Day after day, Omar and I became one of the most ardent lovers of this sport, and we expanded to discover all the mountainous regions in the country. We camp in these areas.”

He added: “Omar and I asked, why do we not see young men and women practicing these sports?

It is like other sports, such as football and others.”

Al-Awadi says: “In 2019, we opened an account on the (Instagram) application, and my friend Omar loves to take pictures a lot, every time he takes the camera with us, and we publish the pictures we take on the account, so that we always ask questions from everyone who saw these pictures, where are these pictures? Where are these photos?

And when we tell them that they are areas of the country, they are very surprised.”

He continues: "When I met Omar in a cafe, he told me that he had an idea to promote and spread (mountain climbing) among the youth, by promoting it through social media, and for us to be the promoters of this sport."

He added: “I was very encouraged by this idea, because I love adventures, and I hoped that young people would be interested in these sports, and take advantage of their spare time with useful things, so we decided that Omar and I would be one team, and that we create an account on (Instagram), and I asked Omar to find a name We are launching a new and distinctive one on the team’s account on (Instagram), and choosing a suitable and strange name was very difficult.”

Al-Awadi continued: “After several days, Omar came to my house, and told me that he had found a name for the team, and he told me that we will call it (Lockers), of course I refused at first, because I was not convinced by this name, but Omar insisted a lot on the name, so I consulted my big brother, He said it was a very special name, and the name was adopted.

He said: “It became easy for us to document our trips and adventures on (Instagram), and we became very famous, and we received many requests to join us when we went on our mountain trips, and we were refused, because we are not qualified to take more than one person with us, we do not know what obstacles we may face when Mountaineering".

Al-Awadi added: “Because of the large number of requests, Omar and I decided to enroll in training courses in first aid, wilderness aid, and training on how to survive in the wild. And mountain trips for groups, and indeed our company became licensed, and my big brother (Nawaf) joined us, and the three of us became a team (loafers).

He continued: "We placed an announcement on the (Instagram) application, that we will go to a mountain trip and camping in the city of Hatta, so we received a number of requests, and a great interaction, to participate in this trip, and the allowed number was 20 people, so we did this trip, and the participants were very happy. Experience this kind of adventure.

Al-Awadi continues: “After the success of this trip, we decided that the loafers team would have a clear goal, and convey a message to the community about the importance of this sport. Drawing workshops, which were also very successful.

He says: "Day after day, the (loafers) team grew, and we became four people, after the Emirati painter, Duha Al-Halami, who loves to give painting workshops, joined us. We aspire to offer more useful educational workshops.”

Al-Awadi added: “As a team (loafers) we seek to encourage all segments of society to practice these sports, and this type is often found among foreigners. our society.”

Al-Awadi continues enthusiastically: “The drawing took one month, and the result was impressive, as the drawings were very beautiful, and added an aesthetic touch to the place, and it became a landmark of the Maliha area, and conveyed a clear picture of the nature of this place.”
