Gyoda City, Saitama Prefecture, is promoting efforts to decorate parks and other places with flowers purchased from farmers in order to support flower farmers who are affected by soaring agricultural material prices.

In order to support flower farmers who are facing a decrease in income due to the soaring price of agricultural materials due to the depreciation of the yen and the impact of the new corona, Gyoda City buys flowers from farmers and decorates them in parks.

On the 28th, about 1,000 pots of locally grown viola and dianthus were prepared at Oshijoshi Park in Gyoda City.

Then, local university students and city officials moved the flowers into wooden boxes of different sizes and arranged and stacked them along sidewalks to create flowerbeds.

The design and production of the flowerbeds were done by students, and he said, "I was conscious of the shape of arranging the flowers so that the flowers would be more voluminous. I would be happy if Gyoda City would be excited."

Mr. Naoki Hirokane of Gyoda City's Agricultural Administration Division said, "I started this project in the hope that it would be of some help to business operators who grow flowers. I hope many people will enjoy the flowers and be able to promote them." .

Gyoda City will decorate parks and promenades in the city with flowers until next March.
