Carrefour is currently recalling several batches of plain shrimp tails “peeled without added sulphites”.

In question: the possible presence of the bacterium Vibrio Vulnificus, indicates the reminder sheet issued on the Rappel Conso site.

The products, marketed under the brand of the supermarket chain, are packaged in 250 g trays.

They were released between September 15 and 23.

Four lots affected

Four batches are affected by the recall procedure.

They bear the following numbers: 2222570002, 2222580002, 2222620116 and 2222650003. All have the same barcode 352368043666. The use-by dates are between September 26 and October 4.

It is advisable not to consume these shrimps and to destroy them or bring them back to the store to be reimbursed.

"Foodborne illnesses caused by Vibrio vulnificus can occasionally result in mild gastrointestinal disturbances in healthy individuals, but also in severe non-intestinal disturbances (generalized infection/sepsis) in susceptible persons or persons with 'pre-existing chronic conditions', is explained on the reminder sheet.

“In addition, skin infections are likely to arise from pre-existing wounds when handling the products.

If the product must be cooked before consumption: cooking the products through to the core at +65°C destroys these bacteria”, is also added.
