According to information disclosed by West China Hospital of Sichuan University on September 21, the preliminary diagnosis was that Gan Yu suffered multiple soft tissue contusions throughout his body, fractured ribs, and fractured fibula of his left lower extremity, accompanied by severe infection.

Gan Yu:
Well, much better.
Reporter: Now (in hospital treatment), do you still remember the earthquake?
Gan Yu:
Occasionally, I can think of it, but I was lonely at the time.
Reporter: What keeps you going?
Gan Yu:
I just want to survive.
(I think) there must be people around looking for me, and they must find me.
Reporter: What did you do when you saved yourself?
Did you try to start a fire or leave any marks?
Gan Yu:
I have been calling for help.
I don't have anything (fire tools) on me, and have tried (fire), can't make it, it's wet, it's raining every night.

Reporter: How do you escape when it rains?
Gan Yu:
I have a raincoat on my body, and I just huddle there, occasionally on the edge of a cliff (to hide from the rain).
Reporter: What did you experience in the mountains?
Have you encountered a beast (dangerous)?
Gan Yu:
It's easy to get lost in the mountains, and you can't see the way you used to.
I haven't encountered any beasts, but I have heard voices, only hiding in a dark corner, huddled in a ball, not making a sound.

Gan Yu:
Just drink water.

We were resting in the hut, we were shaking (during the earthquake), and we immediately came out to see that everything collapsed.

We looked at the water level at the time. If we didn't release the water, the water would overturn the dam, and the losses would be even greater, and we couldn't escape.

Gan Yu:
When the aftershock occurred, a stone hit the leg (fractured), and when the landslide occurred, it also fell.
Reporter: How did you separate from Luo Yong at that time?
Gan Yu:
After opening the sluice gate to release water, we stayed on the dam for one night. It was still very dangerous, so we wanted to save ourselves.
Because my colleague (Luo Yong) was a local and could find a way, he took me up.
The next day, my cell phone had a signal, so I called for rescue, and let us wait for rescue in place.
But we have been sleepy for two or three days and have not eaten.
Luo Yong said that we have to go anyway, we walk a little bit forward, and they come to pick us up a little bit closer.
Because everywhere is broken (the road is very difficult to walk), (my) physical strength is exhausted, if the two of them continue to consume so much and can't walk, (me) will let him find rescue, I will wait here, my Physical strength is not as good as his.
