From Paris to the sea, it's straight.
Didier Lallement, who left his post as Paris police prefect in July, was appointed to the Council of Ministers on Monday as head of the general secretariat for the sea. He will take up his duties "from [Monday] October 3".
The General Secretariat for the Sea (SGMer) is an inter-ministerial body placed under the authority of Matignon, whose mission is to control, evaluate and coordinate the government's maritime policy.
Two court cases still pending
Didier Lallement, 66, widely criticized during his three and a half years at the Paris police headquarters (PP) for his deemed brutal management of the demonstrations, is the target of two judicial inquiries concerning the maintenance of order during the "vests yellow”.
The first was opened on August 31 after the filing of a complaint with civil action by two figures of the movement, Priscillia Ludosky and Faouzi Lellouche, who accuse him of having put them in danger by "nassant" them and preventing them from demonstrate in Paris in November 2019.
The second follows the complaint of the former "yellow vest" Maxime Nicolle who denounces his "arbitrary detention" during his placement in police custody on the sidelines of the parade of July 14, 2019.
Laurent Nuñez, former national coordinator of intelligence and the fight against terrorism, had succeeded in July to Didier Lallement at the head of the PP.
